Why Visit Gold Coast

Discovering early settler history, a key aspect of any Gold Coast travel guide, reveals remnants like the heritage-listed Benowa House. While known for modern high-rises such as Q1, the city's architectural roots also include charming 1920s timber shacks found in older pockets like Burleigh Heads.

Beyond its 70 km of surf beaches, what is Gold Coast famous for extends to its lush hinterland. Explore Springbrook National Park's waterfalls and ancient Gondwana Rainforest. Evenings offer unique views from SkyPoint Observation Deck, or a quiet stroll through the Burleigh Hill lookout.

Among the best reasons to visit Gold Coast is its thriving food scene. Fresh seafood platters are a staple, often sourced from local trawlers at Main Beach. Discover the farmers markets in Miami, where hinterland produce shines, offering local honey and unique macadamia creations beyond tourist traps.

Surfers Paradise lives up to the name!

The beach stretch along Surfers Paradise is just something else. Sand is clean, waves are perfect, and there's always something going on along the esplanade. Great spot if you're after a proper beach holiday.

Gold Coast is brilliant for families

Came with the kids and they absolutely loved every bit of it. Theme parks keep them busy all day, and the beaches are so safe and well-patrolled. Burleigh Heads was our favourite spot - calmer waves and a really laid-back feel. Food options everywhere too.

Best beach holiday I've had in years

The water is so clear and warm, especially around Coolangatta. Locals are super friendly and helpful. Ate fish and chips right on the beach and it was perfect. The whole coastline just feels clean and well looked after.

Loved the food scene here

Didn't expect such a good cafe and restaurant scene. Lots of fresh seafood, great coffee, and some really solid casual spots along Broadbeach. Not expensive either compared to Sydney. Definitely worth adding to your Australia trip.

So much to do beyond the beach

People think it's just beaches but there's heaps more. The Hinterland day trips are stunning, rainforest walks are easy to access, and the city itself has great shopping and nightlife. Cavill Avenue is always buzzing with people. Really well-rounded destination.

Relaxed and easy to get around

Everything feels easy here. Public transport works well, beaches are walking distance from most places, and the weather in December was absolutely perfect. Grabbed a smoothie bowl from a little spot near Main Beach and it honestly set the tone for the whole trip.
